Welcome to the mystical world of Hericium erinaceus aka Lion's Mane mushroom, Yamabushitake (Japanese for Mountain Priest Mushroom), Bearded Tooth, Pom Pom Blanc and many more. Highly prized for centuries for its purported functional benefits to cognition, immunity & gut health, as well as its deliciously delicate taste & meaty texture.

In addition, these dried Lion's Mane florets can be used to make your own tinctures and extracts. They can be popped directly into a blender for an addition to smoothies, or even powdered and added to coffee for a potentially brain boosting caffeine fix.

Benefits

Lion’s Mane contains many beneficial compounds including β-glucans, terpenoids & erinacines. These may be highly beneficial as NGFs (Nerve Growth Factor stimulators) that help to regrow myelin (the insulating sheath around nerves in the brain and spinal column), with the potential to increase cognitive health and have a positive action on many neurological conditions. Lion’s Mane is rich in antibacterial compounds and β-glucan-sacharides which have shown to have impressive antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties in trials against inflammatory bowel conditions. Lion’s Mane is also rich in probiotics, which could help to improve gut health and prevent the growth of bad bacteria in the gut.

Beneficial Compounds include: ß-glucans, ß-glucoxylans, Terpenoids, Erinacines, Minerals (Potassium, Phosphorus, Calcium, Iron, Zinc, Magnesium), Amino Acids, Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B9, C, D2.

Potential Benefits

Rehydration Steps

To rehydrate, pop your dried Lion's Mane florets into a bowl & fully cover with water. Place a plate or pan lid on top to keep them submerged.

For best results use room temperature water (takes 1-2 hours), or reduce the time to 20 mins using hot (not boiling) water, but you may lose some flavour. Drain, gently squeeze out any excess water, and cook just like fresh.
